Foot, Bicycle, Motorbike and Car Safaris

1.WILDERNESS NATURE WALK (FROM BRUGBANI TO MURUGU SPRING WATER)
This is a two-day trip whose active season lasts from January to July. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour. Visitors are likely to see Elephants, Buffalo, Roan Antelopes, Hartebeests, Waterbucks, Kobs, Crocodiles, Hyenas, Birds, and activities of Leopards. For pre-trip preparation, bring along water, food, protective gear, closed footwear, mosquito net, insect repellent, warm bedding, clothing, bright torchlight, and sleeping bag. All visitors shall depart from the Information Centre at 7:30am, and shall receive briefing before departure.
Brugbani Camp is the first stop. Here, visitors will have a short break and have some snacks (if they wish). They shall be briefed about the camping system of the Park. The second resting point is Liner Pool. Here, visitors will rest and have the opportunity to view birds. They will also be briefed about Liner Pool and other waterbodies within the Park.
The third resting point is Haraba Pool. From Liner Pool, visitors will walk along Mole River to Haraba Pool, where they may rest on the viewing platform, to hear about the history of the area, and watch wildlife. From Haraba Pool, visitors will cross Mole River and then climb Konkori Hill to Murugu Spring, the fourth resting point, where visitors have dinner and spend the night. Along the walk, visitors will enjoy hearing about the history of the area.
The fifth resting point is Richard Saltlick. From Murugu spring, visitors will go downhill to cross Mole River once again, and then go to Richard Saltlick. Visitors will be given more briefing about the history of Richard Saltlick.
From Richard Saltlick, visitors will be brought back to the Information Centre. Here, they shall debrief the Tourism Officer about their experience.

2. WILDERNESS NATURE RIDE (FROM MBOLOBI TO JANG) 
This is a two-day motorcycle trip whose active season lasts from January to June. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour. Visitors are likely to see Elephants, Buffalo, Roan Antelopes, Hartebeests, Waterbucks, Kobs, activities of Leopards and Hyenas, and so on. For pre-trip preparation, bring along water, food, protective gear, closed footwear, mosquito net, insect repellent, warm bedding, clothing, bright torchlight, sleeping bag, and motorbike. All visitors shall depart from the Information Centre at 7:30am, and shall receive briefing before departure.
From the Information Centre, visitors will ride through Brugbani Camp to Lovi Camp, where they will enjoy hearing about the history of the area, and the camp system. Visitors will then cross Lovi River and ride to Mbolobi Junction, where they will have lunch and leave their motorbikes. From Mbolobi Junction, visitors will continue on foot on a marked trail to Mbolobi Old Village, where they shall take a break, have a tour, and enjoy hearing about the history of the area.
From Mbolobi village, visitors will continue on the trail to Jang Range Camp, where they will spend the night at the range guest house. The following day, they will pass through the same route until they get to Mbolobi Junction, to continue on their motorbikes to the Park Headquarters, to debrief the Tourism Officer about their experience.

3. WILDERNESS DRIVE OR CYCLE (FROM BRUGBANI TO NYANGE OR DUCIE CAMP)
This is a two- to three-day driving or motorcycling trip, whose active season is from January to July. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour. Visitors are likely to see Elephants, Buffalos, Roan Antelopes, Hartebeests, Waterbucks, Kobs, Birds, activities of Leopards and Hyenas, Natural Springs, the attractive Environment, the Slave Route, and old settlements. For pre-trip preparation, bring along water, food, protective gear, closed footwear, mosquito net, insect repellent, warm bedding, clothing, bright torchlight and sleeping bag. All visitors shall depart from the Information Centre at 7:30am, and shall receive briefing before departure.
From the Information Centre, visitors will be driven or will ride through Brugbani Camp, Assebey Pool and Haraba Pool; through Assebey Loop to Steep Hill, and then on to Lovi Camp, where they will enjoy hearing about the history of the area and the camp system.
The second stopover will be at Spring Water, 5 kilometres along the Nyange Road. Visitors shall have the opportunity to visit the natural springs, located 1 kilometre off the main road. Visitors will pass through Mbolobi Junction, to Nyange Camp, for the third stopover. They will also cross Nyange River to the Nyange Old Settlement, where the history of both Mbolobi and the old Nyange villages will be narrated.
From Nyange Camp, visitors will continue to another old settlement called Buge, and then they will join the slave trade route to Ducie Camp. From Ducie Camp, they will drive through Gongole Old Settlement and Konkori Slave Cave, to the Old Konkori Settlement. Visitors shall be told the history of these places.
After visiting Konkori Camp, the team will travel straight to the Park Headquarters through the same route, or through Wa. They can sleep at Nyange Camp or Ducie Camp. 

4. KPARIA WATERFALLS
This is a two-day driving or motorcycling trip, whose active season is from January to June. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a range camp, fringe communities, the Daboya Smock Weaving Industry, Kparia Waterfalls and its natural environment, the old settlement, and burial grounds. Visitors may also take the opportunity to stay with people in the community.
For pre-trip preparation, bring along water, food, protective gear, closed footwear, mosquito net, insect repellent, warm bedding, clothing, bright torchlight, and sleeping bag. All visitors shall depart from the Information Centre at 6:00am, and shall receive briefing before departure.
Visitors may drive or cycle through the Park boundary, or through Daboya. If driving through the boundary, you will take a short break at Bawena Range Camp. If driving through the communities, you will take a break at Daboya, and experience its smock weaving industry. With either of these options, you will be briefed on the history of some of the communities.
At Kparia Waterfalls, a community or local guide from Kparia will be assigned to you (in addition to the wildlife guide attached to you), to welcome you and coordinate the affairs of your team.Here you will enjoy Kparia Falls and its natural environment. You will also visit the old settlement of Kparia, where old caves and graves are still visible. 
There are several places to sleep within and near the Kparia community:

  • Homestays within the Kparia community, run by trained homestay operators
  • Hotel Wasipe in Daboya
  • Bawena Camp guest house (for those who are on the boundary).

 

5. SHORT DISTANCE BICYCLE RIDING
This is a two-hour cycling trip which runs throughout the year. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour. Visitors will have the opportunity to exercise, as well as see Elephants, Roan Antelopes, Hartebeests, Waterbucks, Kobs, Bushbuck, etc. Cyclists should bring along water, food, protective clothing, closed footwear, and insect repellent. All visitors shall depart from the Information Centre at 7:30am, and shall receive a briefing before departure.
The ride shall start at the Information Centre and go through Samole Loop or Office Loop, with an armed guide. You will stop at specific points for narrations and interpretations about the Park and the wildlife sighted.
The tour will end at the Information Centre.

6. THE MOLE CIRCUIT DRIVE
This is a three-hour driving trip that runs all year round. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour. Visitors will depart from the Information Centre at 11:00am, and shall receive a briefing before departure. With a guide from the Park, visitors will drive to Mognori Eco-village, where a local tour guide from the community will take the visitors through the various attractions, while the Mole Tour Guide will provide security and boost the confidence of the visitors. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as Canoe Safari, Cultural Dance, Community Walk, and Shea Butter Processing.
From Mognori, visitors will drive to Larabanga, where a local tour guide from the Larabanga community will take them through the various attractions: the Ancient Larabanga Mosque and Mystic Stone, Cultural Dance, Community Walk, etc. Again, the Mole tour guide will provide security and boost the confidence of the visitors.

7. NIGHT SAFARI
The Night Safari involves a trip from the Information Centre into the wild. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour. Visitors are taken on a ride through the Park, where they may get a chance to see a number of nocturnal animals. The night safari begins at 6:00 pm and lasts for two hours, in order not to disturb the animals unduly. An armed guide in a rental jeep escorts visitors on this adventure, which is booked for at the Information Centre. Visitors have the choice of viewing the animals from the roof of the jeep or from the inside, as most of the rental jeeps have rooftop seating. Some of the animals that visitors may see on this safari are buffaloes, hyenas, roan antelopes, leopards, elephants and hartebeest.

 

8. TREE HIDE
The Tree Hide is a viewing platform built on a strong tree, which enables visitors to get a close feel of nocturnal wildlife while the animals visit the nearby saltlick (a place where animals go to lick salt from the ground). Hyenas, buffaloes, baboons, leopards, antelopes and birds are some of the animals you might see. Throughout the night there are over a hundred birds chirping, and this, combined with the cries of hyenas and baboons, is very exciting for any animal lover.
The Tree Hide experience begins at the Information Centre, with a one-hour walk to the Tree Hide at 5:00 pm with an armed guide who will remain with visitors for the entire period of their stay at the Tree Hide. The Tree Hide experience ends at 8:00 am the following morning. There is a borehole near the Tree Hide, for those who would like to bathe before setting off.
Visitors are advised not to wear light clothing, as there are tsetse flies on the road to the Tree Hide, and the tsetse flies are able to bite through clothing. A double layer of clothing, long trousers, socks, boots and insect repellent will all come in handy on your journey.
Visitors wanting to visit the Tree Hide must take along the following:
A bright torchlight
Mosquito net (mosquito nets can be rented at the Information Centre at a cost of GHS 5.00)
A mat or mattress (camping mats can be rented at the Information Centre at a cost of GHS 10.00)
Warm bedding
Warm clothing.
There are other viewing platforms within the Park. 

9. FOOT SAFARI
The Foot Safari involves walking through the Park. During this safari, visitors have the opportunity to experience the flora and fauna of the Park. Animals that you may see on a Foot Safari are birds, antelope, kobs, elephants, baboons, warthogs, buffalos and monkeys. Foot Safaris are conducted between the hours of 7 am and 11 am, and between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Each trip lasts two hours.

10. DRIVE SAFARI
The Drive Safari involves a drive through the Park. If you ride on (or in) a Jeep, you are likely to see more animals than you would if you were walking, and you would certainly cover a large distance in a shorter space of time. Animals that you may see on a Day Safari are birds, roan antelopes, hartebeests, kobs, elephants, baboons, warthogs and monkeys. Day Safaris are conducted between the hours of 7:00 am and 11:00 am, and between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Each trip lasts for two hours.

11. HISTORICAL AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR
A major pre-19th century slave trading route passes through the Park, linking Damongo to the south of the Park, with the interior areas to the north. The route generally follows the KonkoriEscarpment. The Gbanwele caves in the centre of the Park also have archaeological and historic importance. Archaeological tours are always part of a larger tour. You may want to organise a tour at the Information Centre, where necessary support will be given. Prices will be determined by the Information Centre, depending on the number of participants on the tour.
