Waterfalls

There are two waterfalls in the Park. These are the Kparia and Polzen Waterfalls. They  are each 5 hours’ drive from the Information Centre, and each of them is located within Mole National Park. They are outstanding examples of ongoing ecological and biological processes in the evolution and development of Guinea Savannah Ecosystems.

The spectacular Polzen Waterfalls  is of  exceptional natural beauty. It takes its source from the Konkori escarpment. The Polzen Waterfalls flows throughout the year. It is surrounded by a thick evergreen forest forming spectacular canopy. The Polzen Waterfalls plays a functional role as one of the major water sources for wildlife, and the breeze from the waterfalls gives a unique cold temperature condition at its base.  The water seeps gently into layers of rocks, and resurfaces at a distance of about 500 metres away from where it joins the Polzen River.

Kparia Waterfalls is also an extraordinary waterfall which derives its source from the Konkori escarpment. It has a height of approximately 20 metres. The fall has two segments (the waterfall and a pool at the base). It is famous for its stunning pool formation which makes swimming possible and enjoyable. The evergreen forest around the pool makes it conducive for camping, and it provides a unique habitat for fauna.

Trips to Kparia and Polzen waterfalls are organised by the ………or………..where fees are paid. This eco- tourism product springs out form the collaboration of the Kparia Community and Mole National Park Management.
